Filming Begins on From Up Here, the New Film by Martín Cuervo, Produced by Inefable Productions (ISII Group)
Inefable Productions (ISII Group) has begun filming From Up Here, the new feature film by Martín Cuervo (Con quién viajas), starring Gonzalo de Castro (7 vidas, La torre de Suso), Dafne Fernández (Perfectos desconocidos, El club de los incomprendidos), Almudena Amor (El buen patrón, La mujer dormida) and Álvaro Cavadas (Nocturne).
The film is billed as an uncomfortable comedy in which the humor emerges naturally from an extreme situation. The story follows an actor in crisis who is forced to live with his teenage son, an introverted young man he barely knows. The conflict erupts when the boy decides to climb onto the roof of the house and refuses to come down, forcing his father to confront his inability to manage their relationship and the unresolved tensions within the family.
The project is based on a screenplay by Arturo Ruiz Serrano and José Manuel Carrasco, winners in the Fiction category at the second edition of Break On Time, the international screenplay competition launched by ISII Group as part of its commitment to developing new voices and identifying emerging talent in the audiovisual industry. Desde arriba thus becomes the first feature film to emerge from the program’s second edition, which is designed to support projects from the writing stage through to production.

To mark the start of filming, which will run for five weeks and has an estimated budget of €4 million, the production team held a press conference in Gran Canaria, where the film is being shot. Director Martín Cuervo said: “There are no scripted gags in From Up Here; you laugh at people’s behavior, at the absurdity of it all. I think that’s why we all like it, because we don’t usually see these kinds of films in Spanish cinema.”
Lydia Palencia, Executive Producer at ISII Group, added: “At ISII Group, we have a commitment to producing very different kinds of films. We are also investing in the projects that come out of our Break On Time screenplay competition. From Up Here is one of the winning projects from our latest edition.”
Regarding the cast, Gonzalo de Castro said: “Making this film is a challenge. It’s not a movie where the joke is handed to you. It’s a very elegant comedy, and that’s why, when I read it, I said, ‘I’m not going to miss this.’” Dafne Fernández commented: “I read the script and thought it was wonderful. It’s something new that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before in Spanish cinema.” Almudena Amor shared: “When I read the script, I laughed and cried. That’s life; sometimes it’s surreal. I’m very happy to play my character, and I know I’m going to have a great time.” Meanwhile, Álvaro Cavadas said: “From Up Here is my first major project and, for me, it’s a dream to be part of the family we’ve created. I’m proud to be part of this cast.”
The production of From Up Here marks a further step forward for ISII Group’s fiction slate in 2026, which also includes Mi zona, currently in production under the direction of Goya Award winner Cristian Beteta and starring Milena Smit, Roberto Álamo and Irene Escolar, along with other projects to be announced soon as part of the group’s growth strategy in the film sector. At the same time, the group continues to expand its presence in theaters with productions including Tal vez, starring Adriana Ugarte and Tania Santana; Días de agosto, starring Maggie Civantos, Roberto Álamo, Pau Simon and Berta Galo; and Trinidad, starring Gabriela Andrada, Paz Vega and Karla Sofía Gascón, her first project following the international success of Emilia Pérez.
